DST and Y2k And more alphabit soup

So the big DST crisis has come and gone... no big computer crashes again... The Armageddon predictions are starting to get old... I was really hoping for some fun this time. All in all its mostly good that nothing big went down, but with all the hype I was hoping for something good to watch on TV.

So anyways I think a recap is still needed though... Since some crazy people want to try to save money by making it light longer we moved DST up by 3 weeks. It must feel good to be in a place of power where you can say, o yeah, I want the time to move like this then and there here ect. So this move is suppost to save billions of dollars in heating ect. I think they are going to find that it didn't matter. The other thing that is going to happen is about 2 years from now they are going to go into DST for the last time, and we are just going to be there forever... great idea right...

Its too bad that computers cant track the start of DST dynamically... and as bloated as OS's are today, thats not something that I would have thought to be a problem... but it is. It gets better though, the patch that was released only works if the computer watches the rollover from 1:59 to 3:00 am on DST day. How dumb are we? Really?

So yeah, seven years after Y2k and we still haven't learned that shortcuts just create headaches...
